Simon’s Cornwall Coastpath Challenge!

15 April 2024

On 1st May, former Bosence resident – Simon Coombe will be setting out on his attempt to walk the entire length of the Cornish Coast to raise money for Bosence, who in his own words helped to save his life and overcome addiction.

Simon plans to cover a distance of around 10 miles a day, which will put him on target to complete the 300+ mile distance within 30 days.

Starting in Bude, Simon will head west, travelling through Padstow, Newquay and St Ives before reaching Lands End at roughly the half way point. He will then head easterly passing through Britain’s most southerly point at the Lizard Peninsula before reaching the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey and Polperro, finally finishing at the Cremyll Ferry.

With a total elevation of over 61,870ft, Simon’s challenge represents the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest more than twice. Simon plans to camp each night, will be preparing his own meals and carrying all the necessary provisions to sustain him. He’ll also be spending a night or two camping within the grounds of Bosence where we will do our best to ensure he’s well rested and replenished before continuing onwards.

We will be providing regular updates on his progress to let you all know where he is and how things are going. I’m sure you’ll join us all at Bosence in wishing Simon the best of luck ahead of his arduous journey – Simon, you’re an inspiration!
