Storm Force 10

25 January 2022

On Sunday the 23rd of January two Bosence members of staff – Catherine Eastman and Tom Packer, took part in the ‘Storm Force’ 10-mile road race to raise funds which will be used for the purchase of exercise equipment for residents to make use of.

The race started a short walk from Camborne Science & international Academy, before heading out on undulating roads passing through Carhill Green and Leedstown. The conditions on the day couldn’t have been any better; it was cool and dry with only a very gentle breeze. The event featured 572 participants who were predominantly running club members from across Cornwall, but also some who had travelled from further afield.

Both Catherine and Tom thoroughly enjoyed taking part in what was a very well organised event, with lots of members of the local community out on the course offering encouragement and cheering the participants along.

Of the 572 participants who took part, Tom finished in 77th position in a time of 64 minutes & 51 seconds, with Catherine in 413th place in a time of 95 minutes & 57 seconds. The race itself is one of 14 races that comprise the ‘Cornish Running Clubs Grand Prix’ – both Catherine and Tom were very pleased to have placed well in such a high-quality field of runners.

We are still accepting donations so if you’d like to contribute you can do so by clicking the link below. The total raised will be confirmed in due course. We are keen to arrange some future events, so watch this space.
