Dr Malcolm Jones

Now retired, Malcolm was previously a local GP at Sunnyside Surgery in Penzance from 1989 having moved to Cornwall in 1983 for a six-month hospital placement and then never leaving! Over the years he has carried out other work alongside general practice including medical input into St Julia’s Hospice for 3 years, representation on the Local Medical Committee and the Chair of a Primary Care Trust Professional Executive Committee. Malcolm developed a particular interest in addiction and was Primary Care Clinical Lead for Substance Misuse Services in Cornwall until 2013, helping to set-up drug & alcohol services provided by GPs in the county. He was a GP with Special Interest in Substance Misuse, providing care for clients in the Camborne Redruth area, until January 2014 when GP commitments meant he had to give up the post but continued to provide care for patients with drug or alcohol problems at the practice until retirement. Malcolm is married with two grown up daughters and has recently entered the joyful world of being a grandparent! In his spare time he enjoys walking and road cycling to try and keep fit, tries to paint whenever follows the Cornish Pirates rugby team.
